Why B2B2X is reshaping telecom BSS
Operators are moving from selling connectivity to orchestrating partner ecosystems — and legacy BSS was never built for that.
Connectivity is commoditising. Growth for operators increasingly comes from enterprise services, content, IoT and wholesale — offers built with partners and paid for through revenue-share, sponsorship or usage.
What changes for the BSS
- Multi-party quoting: CPQ must price bundles that combine operator and partner components.
- Order orchestration: one commercial order fans out to network, IT and partner fulfilment.
- Settlement: every party must be paid accurately and on time.
- Master data: one product catalogue instead of every system having its own version.
A real example
For stc Wholesale, ZIRA replaced a legacy CRM with B2B CRM, unified order management and a product catalogue integrated with its billing and settlement — implemented in five months from contract to go-live and aligned with TM Forum eTOM and SID. The result was end-to-end lead-to-cash visibility and support for B2B2X business models.
Where to start
Start with the domain where manual work is highest — typically quote-to-order — and integrate through TM Forum Open APIs so legacy systems can be retired step by step. See our telecom services.
